Alan Farrell

Alan holds an honours degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy having graduated from Middlesex University in 2011 and is an accredited psychotherapist with the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). Alan works from an Integrative approach combining several theoretical models such as humanistic- person-centred, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) and Mindfulness techniques while always keeping the therapeutic relationship a priority and aiming to provide a warm, empathic, safe space for clients.

With over 13 years and in excess of 5,000 hours of counselling experience, Alan has worked extensively with clients struggling with many mental health and life challenges such as Anxiety, Depression, Relationship difficulties, Stress management, Bereavement, Low Confidence/Self-esteem, Work related stress, Exam stress, Anger management and much more. Alan has also worked considerably in the area of Crisis intervention supporting those with suicidal thoughts and self-harming behaviours and also helping family members bereaved by suicide. Alan is a qualified Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) responder.

Alan has a passion for Mental Health Training and Education and is a qualified trainer having studied with the Irish Institute for Training and Development. He has delivered over 200 clinical talks and seminars to many corporate clients, community groups, the HSE, an Garda Síochána and colleges on topics such as suicide prevention, stress management, mental well-being and Self-care.

Working as a psychotherapist, Alan feels privileged and honoured to witness the strength and courage displayed by clients. He finds it very rewarding to see clients find hope, become more self-aware, confident and develop ways to work through their problems or to cope better with loss.
